Happy and Sad Days

We're both feeling a mixture of emotions right now. We have a beautiful, happy, charming boy and feel so blessed and lucky to have him. We're a bit sad because this little boy has a misshapen head and needs to wear a helmet for the next 6-9 months. He got his new 'friend' yesterday, and so far I think it's much harder on mom than it is on JJ. What do you think?

Oh Barbie, I think he looks adorable. Don't worry. we will just go buy him some little football outfits to go along with the helmet. He looks happy.

It's an adorable helmet, and it will help him tremendously. I can relate to the shock and difficultly adjusting to such a drastic change, when Kael was diagnosed with PDD-NOS (and subsequently Aspergers) it was very difficult. But with time it had gotten easier and I have learned that even with my challenges I am still so very blessed. JJ is lucky to have a mother like you, Barbie, you can see in every photograph taken he is truly a happy boy.

Oh my goodness, JJ's head is a huge part of what makes him so adorable! (Plus he's soooo sweet.) I think he looks SO cute -- he's just getting an early start for being an obedient, helmet-wearing missionary on a bike later.

I hear you, Barbie. It's hard to find out that something is not right with our children. And it's hard to watch them take their "medicine". Sometimes I think it's harder on us as parents that it is on the children. Hugs and prayers and hopeful thoughts for you!
